Update:17's Change Your Rep Step by Step Ü
written on Friday, February 27, 2009 @ 4:54 AM ∞ 0 candies
Just want to share an article I read [again. Haha.] in seventeen’s June 2006 issue. The issue goes way back since that was only a free copy I got from the sketchers dance competition [w/c I am only an audience btw. Lol.] Anyway, I decided to browse through the mag again because of the boredom I was going through at HOME. Thus the article… CHANGE YOUR REP STEP BY STEP Reclaim your good name in four easy steps. By: Shiloah Matic If you find yourself hiding out in your room, vowing not to resurface until you can a)leave town or b)change your name because there’s no way you’re ever going to live down your ruined rep, we feel for you. Who hasn’t been there, wished they hadn’t done that? A reputation is a priceless possession. Time may heal a lot of wounds, but a damaged rep doesn’t just repair itself over time. So take action! Seventeen shows you how. STEP 1: change your look It’s been said over and again that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. But fact is, people often do. It’s only natural; even in nature, sometimes perception is more important than reality. The easiest way to make people see you differently is to dress the part. Changing your outward appearance subtly signals to people that you’ve also changed inside-and makes them take a second look at who you are. Once you’ve got their attention, you can show them the new and improved you. STEP 2: change your character Your reputation is what people say about you; your character is who you really are. To truly change how people see you, you have to become the person you want to be. And unlike a new outfit you can instantly put on to appear different, changing your ways will take longer and more effort. The key is to tackle them one at a time. List down all the traits, habits, and behavior that may be giving you a bad rep. Then choose the one that’s most holding you back from becoming your best self. Finally, start a new habit-one that directly counteracts your bad habit. Practice it in a noticeable way. Doing this allows the people around you to see that you’re actually trying to change. STEP 3: change your crowd One saying is that people do take to heart is that birds of a feather flock together. Hang out with the right crowd, and their rep becomes your rep. unfortunately, the opposite is just as true. Befriend the “bad” kids, and you’ll be one of them before you can even strike a match. It’s not so much your rep you should be worrying about as it is your lifestyle. When your barkada is constantly pressuring you to make the wrong choices, it’s only a matter of time before you give in or they give up. True friends should never make you do something that could hurt you, and if yours do, it’s time for a relationship reevaluation. STEP 4: Change your mindset If the only reason you want to change your image is ‘cause you’re obsessed about what others think of you, you may find yourself on a never-ending wild-goose chase for perfection and acceptance. Hey, you can’t please everyone, and there will always be talk as people try to fit you into the mold of what they want you to be. Change your image because you want to improve yourself. You can’t lose a healthy mindset like that. Obsessing about what others think can cause you to start believing that’s who you are-and that’s all you can be… -that's about it- [learned something? Hope so.]

i my me mine

So, Hi. :) This was actually created as a requirement for English class back in Third Year (High School of course.) Oh, about that--please forgive whatever errors you can find in the posts. :> I have no intention of editing them again.I think they remind me more of my previous self (lol. I sound like someone who got reincarnated. Oh well.)
ps. I'm presently living HERE
